ASCAP/BMI/SESAC/GMRFlorida is known the world-over for its diverse and vibrant music community.
From Miami's Latin pulse to Orlando's pop hits to the panhandle's country twang, the state produced the "Miami Sound" made famous by Gloria Estefan, Jon Secada and Julio Iglesias in the 1980s and 1990s and is home to contemporary Latin superstars Pitbull and Marc Anthony. Further north, 1990s and 2000s sensations the Backstreet Boys & N'Sync were formed in Orlando, and superstar Tom Petty rose to fame from his home in Gainesville where his song "I Won't Back Down" is now played between the third and fourth quarters of University of Florida football games. Southern rock greats Lynyrd Skynyrd also hail from Florida, as well as Sam Moore from Sam & Dave and country star Jake Owen.
