Any proud Minnesotan can tell you

that their state launched the careers of some of music's most influential superstars, including Prince and Bob Dylan. Minnesota has a vibrant folk music scene, a feature of its famous radio show, "Prairie Home Companion," and is home to Sound 80, the first recording studio to engineer and release a digital recording. It boasts a rich tradition of jazz, blues, indie rock, and Scandinavian music, and is known for "the Minneapolis Sound," a mixture of funk, rock, pop and R&B.
