Although well above the Mason-Dixon line,

Maine has a long tradition of bluegrass and folk music, which is celebrated at annual music festivals including the American Folk Festival in Bangor, Blistered Fingers Family Bluegrass Festivals in Litchfield, and the County Bluegrass Festival in Fort Fairfield. Maine also was home to jazz guitar great, Lenny Breau, the locally revered Rusic Overtones, and country music icon Dick Curless, whose song, "A Tombstone Every Mile," famously referred to a road in Northern Maine.
